TWO QUESTIONS TO ASK ABOUT YOUR ENERGY BROKER RELATIONSHIP
1) Do you have an explicit agreement identifying a specific fee to your energy consultant or do they just show up with a price?
If you are unsure if you have a specific fee agreed upon with your energy consultant, you need to ask. Without this disclosure, your consultant could be overcharging you or adjusting their fee to their benefit and creating substantially higher energy costs.
2) When was the last time you reviewed the fee structure?
You may have agreed to a fee in the past but you should be reviewing consulting fees on an ongoing basis. As market conditions continue to change, your consultant should charge appropriate fees.
